Each year, we have focused on a chapter of Jamaica’s rich musical history:

This year, International Reggae Day (IRD) proudly celebrates its 30th staging since its inception in 1994 in Kingston, home of Jamaican music, under the theme "30 Years of Riddim and Resistance." As we mark this milestone, we spotlight the past three decades of the brand that has helped to promote Jamaican music culture and its global impact. We reflect on the
global significance of Reggae music as a powerful soundtrack of resistance and a messenger of love and unity, resonating deeply with people around the world.

IRD was born from this profound connection, inspired by Winnie Mandela's moving address to Jamaican women during her official visit to Jamaica with her husband Nelson after his release. We invite all lovers of Jamaican music to join us in celebrating its rich legacy, honoring the enduring influence of Reggae on global movements for change, unity, and love.

IRD invites media, bloggers, the international Jamaican music industry, and fans of Jamaican music around the world to join us on JulyOne, as wesalute Jamaica's rich musical legacy.
