IRD ULYONE MAGAZINE ARTICLE

Anything that one chooses to do and be from a place of conscious awareness is yoga.  The correlation between yoga and Rastafari is a natural fit.  In India, the Sadhus who wear locks are considered highly evolved beings.  In Jamaica, Rastafari serves as today’s representation of our indigenous peoples.  Both Rastafari and Sadhus are born out of histories where they defied the status quo of being slaves and indentured laborers respectively in pursuit of their spiritual path.

Yoga, which continues to gain an immense global foothold ultimately means to unite.

The tenets of ‘Rasta’ align seamlessly with yoga – proper diet, proper exercise, proper breathing, proper rest, positive thinking and meditation – the terminology that encompasses all of this within the Rasta context is Livity.
